McCarthy’s NR piece wasn’t contrary at all; he was simply ahead of the rest of the gop accommadationists and Trump enablers. They don’t mind supporting impulsive decisions that ignore best military and intelligence advice, even cowardly and shameful ones that abandon our allies and empower our enemies and guarantee a more dangerous future, as long as it’s a gop president making the call.
One day the dems will elect a president and McCarthy and his kind can go back to bitching about tan suits and excessive golf. Until then they’re a waste of time.
