Watkinsville gets the first full-scale processing and manufacturing center for hemp in Georgia.
Industrial hemp manufacturer GA Xtracts plans to employ 250 people by the fourth quarter of 2020 and 500 people by 2021. That’s a lot of people anywhere and a very big number for Watkinsville.
No word where they plan to get their raw hemp but under-utilized fields in Oconee County is a good guess.
