Georgia AG Chris Carr Will Help Lead The Republican Attorneys General Association In 2020
We received a press release from the Republican Attorneys General Association highlighting the achievement of a clean sweep for Republican Attorneys General in their respective races in 2019. It also highlights that Georgia’s own Attorney General Chris Carr will play a role as Vice Chairman of the RAGA in leading the organization into growing the number of Republican Attorneys General in 2020. The presser is posted below.
The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) today announced the election of a new leadership team that is well equipped to lead RAGA’s efforts in the 10 states that will hold attorney general (AG) races in 2020. These changes come after outgoing Chairman Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton led RAGA during 2019, a historic year where Republican candidates won all three AG races across the country, placing Republicans back in the majority. The 2020 leadership team will be led by Chairman Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Vice-Chairman Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, and will focus on defending five incumbent races and expanding the majority.
“This year, RAGA obtained its first clean sweep of races in history, and I am looking forward to building on that positive momentum and increasing the Republican majority in 2020,” said RAGA Chairman, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry. “I am honored and excited to take over as Chairman of such an outstanding organization. I will work with my colleagues to continue to elect rule of law champions across the country, including in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, states that President Trump picked up in 2016. As Chairman, I pledge to make our communities safer, protect the Constitution, and defend our values.”
“The historic victories we secured this year reinforce that voters are energized by the work of conservative attorneys general,” said RAGA Vice-Chairman, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr. “Across the United States, voters are consistently supporting attorneys general who will fight to preserve the rule of law and work every single day to ensure our communities are safer places to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to standing with Jeff and the rest of our colleagues as we strengthen our Republican majority in 2020 and carry out this mission for those we serve.”
RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper echoed their remarks:
“RAGA is in an excellent position going into 2020 to help defend five incumbent Republican attorneys general and expand its majority. This year, we made history by electing Kentucky’s first African American AG and first Republican since 1948, Mississippi’s first female AG and Republican in nearly 150 years, and securing a massive 33-point re-election victory in Louisiana. As “Freedom’s Frontline,” Republican attorneys general better preserve, promote, and protect the rule of law and keep Americans safe.”
