- Cobb County’s sheriff will appear before the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission (GGT&CFC; it’s okay to just call it the Ethics Commission) regarding an audit that raised some “potential issues.”
- Governor Kemp prepares to defend his Senate pick.
- Off the Georgia coast, the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary is a “global model” for conservation.
- If the President’s tariffs make you want to see comfort from the fruit of the vine, you might want to go domestic.
- A Georgia couple pledged $2.2 million to pay off medical debts for residents in Columbus and Phenix City.

Today is the deadline for public comment on Kemp’s healthcare plan.
One waiver proposal would cover only an 50,000 of Georgia’s 408,000 uninsured at a cost much higher per person than expanding Obamacare, along with the imposition of additional qualifying requirements. Another would cut off access to the federal governments healthcare.gov website in favor of insurance industry private brokers (that get a cut, natch) and help higher income people to qualify for a good subsidy.
Less coverage of the most needy at higher unit cost and adding insurance industry middlemen in a plan that won’t be implemented for many months, if ever. What’s not to like?
Kemp should probably reconsider his Senate appointment to replace Isakson that doesn’t have Trump approval to get it to fly.
Not a good day for metro Atlanta incumbents in runoffs, 2W-5L-1 tie, as of now.
