This morning, Sen. Jesse Stone (R-Waynesboro) made it Facebook-official that he would not seek reelection for his current seat, District 23. Stone’s announcement stated that he decided last week not to run, adding that he’s previously limited his terms of service in other offices he’s held and hopes to find other avenues of service.
Also on Facebook, Columbia County Commissioner Trey Allen (R-Martinez) announced his bid for Stone’s seat. However, those who attended the recent Columbia County Republican Party meeting got the scoop on the rest of us, along with Stone’s endorsement of Allen.
According to the Augusta Chronicle, Stone has already found his new “avenue of service.” He’s a finalist to replace Mike Annis on the Superior Court bench. Annis announced in December that he would step down from his position on February 1st.
