Hard Labor Creek State Park Being Prepared For Covid-19 Isolation
Governor Brian Kemp has just sent word that an additional site in Georgia is being prepared in order to isolate and treat Georgians that may have been exposed to Covid-19, a/k/a Caronavirus. Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta is already hosting passengers from a cruise ship.
Now, Hard Labor Creek State Park is being prepared as an additional site to house Georgians for isolation and observation. From a press release:
Atlanta, GA – Out of an abundance of caution, Governor Kemp and the Departments of Public Health, Public Safety, and Natural Resources have identified Hard Labor Creek State Park in Morgan County as a location for the isolation and monitoring of patients who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
No patients are currently scheduled to be transferred to this location.
Currently, the Governor’s Office and state officials are working together to prepare the site for the placement of patients. Officials have already delivered and installed seven emergency trailers at the park, and related materials are en route for future use. Once established, the Department of Public Safety will provide security for this location.
Officials are utilizing an isolated section of Hard Labor Creek State Park where emergency trailers and operations will be separated from the rest of the property.
To prevent the disruption of ongoing operations, access to this specific part of Hard Labor Creek State Park is strictly limited to official use.
You can say that it’s best to be prepared for the worst, or you can assess that it’s just a matter of time before Covid-19 has become a full domestic pandemic. Either way, Georgia is attempting to be one step ahead of the game to treat those affected and limit the spread of the disease as much as possible.
