Morning Reads for Monday, March 16, 2020
Welp, this extrovert has survived two days of staying home with a walk and a grocery store run. And if *I* can do “social distancing”, trust me, literally anyone can. So, call a friend and talk to them on the phone while you go for a walk. Read a book. Binge netflix. Whatever you need do. But, stay home, inasmuch as you can!
- The Governor and Director of Public Health had a conference call with the Georgia House of Representatives last night and here is a summary of that call here, here, and here.

I tried to find y’all something non-COVID-19 related, but all I could find was Georgia Five Midday numbers, a fire at a paper mill, a kid who set himself on fire, and a guy who recorded himself pointing a gun at a police officer. Consider this an open thread for ANYTHING not related to COVID-19. We all need a break while we “social distance”.

Meanwhile, Trump yesterday remarked coronoavirus is very contagious, but “we’ve got tremendous control”.
Trump’s sycophant Surgeon General nailed it eight days ago on the Sunday talk shows when explaining Trump’s remarks about everyone wanting a test getting a test that there were based on there being a million tests available last Monday, and two million by last Friday.
This morning the Surgeon General was on TV explaining that Trump’s reference to “tremendous control” concerned the logistics of restocking grocery stores. You can’t make this stuff up.
Mike Pence wants to help, but between Pence’s first priority of stroking Trump’s ego and Pence’s record of past healthcare truthiness that has hurt specifics groups, he should stay away from the microphone.

This has Jared Kushner’s fingerprints all over it. Like “reinventing government” by shutting half of it down, and creating middle east peace by telling Palestinians to take the money and shut up, his generic battle plan seems to be:
– Keep it simple (because I’m stupid)
– Don’t bother to consider the consequences
– If it doesn’t work it’s somebody else’s fault, especially foreigners
