If anyone could share more info on the departure of the nursing board head, I’d appreciate it. What are the ‘ethical issues’ that have been mentioned? Did he quit or was he fired? Did he get sideways with Kemp or Raffensperger, insofar as he’s independent of Kemp, and if so, how?
From the welcome page: “GeorgiaPol.com strives to be “the” media hub for news, analysis, opinion, and discussion of politics and policy in the state of Georgia.”
Time to step up. I’m sure some of y’all know what’s going on. Create a dummy ID if you’re worried about outing yourself , but give.
He and Kemp had a run in back in 2016 when Kemp was SOS.
“Cleghorn’s position at the Georgia board was the focus of a controversy in 2016 when Gov. Brian Kemp, who was then Secretary of State, announced plans to replace Cleghorn without consulting members of the board, who are citizens appointed to oversee nurse licensing. Most of the board members are nurses.
Kemp wanted to replace Cleghorn with the executive director of the state cosmetology board. Facing criticism from the board members and nurses who supported Cleghorn’s leadership, and an unfavorable legal opinion by the state attorney general, the change was never carried out.
However, conflict continued as the board sought to become independent of the Secretary of State’s office, which currently oversees most of Georgia’s professional licensing boards.”

This is payback from Kemp who got shown up when he tried to mess with the nursing board. You have to realize Kemp is a very petty man and is like Trump in that he does not forget or forgive.
I worked as an RN in Augusta. The nursing board was shorthanded due to budget cuts over the years.
They used to have a very good re-entry program for nurses who messed up and lost their license. The board also pushed for expansion of the nursing license to include prescribing medications and caring for patients as nurse practitioners. This was done because not many MD’s wanted to practice in less populous areas. The nurse practitioners filled that gap.
But Deal, et al, slowly took away their funds and reduced their investigative power since the hospitals and MD’s had a lot more political power. The MD’s feared competition and hospitals feared having to share billing with the nurse practitioners instead of paying them straight wages.
The Kemp came in and decided that people who cut hair and did beauty treatments could manage nurses and their issues.
He had already lost the pharmacy and dental boards which became independent.

“According to Yelp’s methodology, the Georgia restaurant serving up the best fried chicken is Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room in Savannah. In addition to fried chicken, the restaurant is also offers Southern classics like macaroni and cheese, collard greens and candied yams.”

My mother was from New Hampshire and I grew up with a poor version of fried chicken except when the elementary school had fried chicken on the menu. It was very tasty.
I have learned how to fry a decent piece of chicken using the fry pan. The trouble is it is messy and takes an hour to make.
Mama Jewel’s Kitchen in Athens has some good fried chicken and waffles but they only serve breakfast and lunch and it may be take out only (I last went there in February).
Who else makes good fried chicken?
Well , Mama Jewel’s is no longer open. Sad me.
