Morning Reads for National Guacamole Day (September 16)
Good morning on what shouldn’t be one day, but rather everyday. One cannot have enough guacamole. Of course I’m going to give you a bit of history for guacamole in the United States. Here are some tips from Rick Bayless for making good guacamole, and here is one of my top five favorite articles from Eater ever, “A Brief History of Crimes Against Guacamole.”
Oh, yes! Thrillist has a list of places giving out free guac today, which is very important information.
Now, let’s get to the news:

Nine unarmed Black people were killed by Police in 2020. In that same time period, thirty four Police officers were killed by gunfire. Nine Police officers were killed by vehicular assaults.
Don Balfour today, John Oxendine tomorrow. Forget about getting any money back, or even any decent accounting. We know where the money’s gone. Some pols may route their leftover campaign donations to their party or other campaigns, but even then enough stays close to home to keep them and their families comfortable.
I would like to follow Jim Galloway’s request:
On the social media forum of your choice, please publish the following words: “I do not believe my friends and neighbors who work at the CDC are seditious traitors to their country, and I reject those who would say so. I also believe my friends and neighbors at the CDC could use a little more support in fighting this pandemic.”
Thank you, Jim.

With leadership like this, we have a long haul getting out of the “virus” woods ahead:
“Hours after Gov. Brian Kemp appeared at a campaign rally full of hundreds of unmasked Georgians crammed in close quarters outside a Forsyth County barn, he renewed a coronavirus order that bans gatherings larger than 50 people.
It’s not the first time Kemp didn’t abide by his own restrictions at a political stop. He also recently headlined an event for U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler inside a packed Gwinnett County restaurant that’s featured in one of her latest TV ads.
The governor has vented at local authorities, claiming that they are failing to enforce the state’s coronavirus guidelines, encased in an order that stretches across 51 pages. But critics say his appearance at crowded campaign events shows he’s flouting the restrictions, too.”
