SK Innovation, LG Chem Case Delayed Again
Last Thursday, I posted about the possible impact upon the Presidential and U.S. Senate races in Georgia by the forthcoming decision of the International Trade Commission (ITC) in the trade secret case between SK Innovation and LG Chem. A ruling was supposed to have been issued yesterday, October 26, but the ITC has postponed the decision until December 10.
The postponement raises even more questions for the election, as there will be uncertainty instead of a decision. Uncertainty tends to favor the non-incumbent in races, which could hurt President Donald Trump and Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in what appears to be tight races. Rep. Doug Collins, who represents the region of SK Innvoation’s plant, could also be impacted by how this plays out.
The Presidential race will hopefully be decided by December 10, which will make this decision a big deal for Georgia, especially if Georgia is at play in who controls the United States Senate. A veto of a decision against SK Innovation could give the Republican(s) in the runoff an issue that they can stand upon for saving a couple of billions of dollars and 2,600 jobs in Georgia.
