Sens. Perdue and Loeffler Foolishly Call on Secretary of State Raffensperger to Resign
In a rash decision that goes against all reasoning and showing a lack of understanding of Georgia elections, Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have called upon Secretary of State Raffensperger to resign:
“The management of Georgia elections has become an embarrassment for our state. Georgians are outraged, and rightly so. We have been clear from the beginning: every legal vote cast should be counted. Any illegal vote must not. And there must be transparency and uniformity in the counting process. This isn’t hard. This isn’t partisan. This is American. We believe when there are failures, they need to be called out — even when it’s in your own party. There have been too many failures in Georgia elections this year and the most recent election has shined a national light on the problems. While blame certainly lies elsewhere as well, the buck ultimately stops with the Secretary of State. The mismanagement and lack of transparency from the Secretary of State is unacceptable. Honest elections are paramount to the foundation of our democracy. The Secretary of State has failed to deliver honest and transparent elections. He has failed the people of Georgia, and he should step down immediately.”

Gas. Lighting. By out sitting republican senators.
At what point can SoS sue them for libel?
Because that’s what it is.
What are legal votes and non-legal votes? Are non-legal votes of people that didn’t vote for Trump? It sure sounds that way since as far as I know there is no evidence otherwise.
They are right! The level of buying Georgia’s elections scares me…
This is insanity. Raffensperger is doing a good job.
Isn’t it libel?
I’m not a lawyer so I don’t know. But I do know what they are doing is in bad faith and it’s extremely disappointing.
The SoS should do a half-hour PSA and walk through every step of the process to assure voters. We all need facts, not rhetoric.
I guess there’s no doubt now that Perfler will continue their all Trump all the time primary strategy for the runoff. Look for Collins to try to grab some headlines too, given his role as administration point man in the recount. They can always find more evidence-free charges.
I see that Raffensperger has returned fire, and good for him. The only question left is whether Kemp will weigh in or if he too sticks with Trump. I know which way I would bet.
One of the party mantras for the GOP in 2020 has been “law and order”.
We have “election laws”, we have policies and procedures to maintain “order” in our elections.
This behavior isn’t a damn bit of different than if these two were throwing molotov cocktails on the lawn of the State Capitol.
And sadly we don’t even have to ask why. Most of us know why. All we have to do is look at the behavior of Madison Cawthorn in winning NC11 to see what today’s GOP is built upon.
These are despicable human beings.
There’s a shark just a lil ways up ahead. We’ll be jumping it. Hopefully. You don’t want to crash on your skis and fall in, right where the shark is. That would suck.
I suspect this is purely theatrics to fire up the GOTV flames to the many Georgia Trumpistas, but utilizing Raffensperger as the whipping boy for the recent unpleasentness. They have no hope of finding 12,000 votes in Georgia or more importantly on the national scale, 50K votes in PA. I’m not a political expert but Georgia’s runoffs present more of a challenge historically for the Democrats in the GOTV arena. Traditional Republican voters are going to be incentivized enough with the threat of the Senate balance shifting. There are plenty of single-issue voters that are scared to death of a full Democratic Party government. For example, Andrew Clyde’s roadside signs simply had his name and a sillouette of an AR-15. Those people will be back at the polls no matter what. Disincentivizing other segments of your own party seems foolish to this observer.
