Sen. Perdue Calls for Warnock to Apologize for Anti-Military Comments
The following statement was issued today by Sen. David Perdue that calls on Democrat Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock to apologize for stating that someone could not “serve God and the military:”
“I am outraged about Reverend Raphael Warnock’s remarks that he made from his pulpit in his church that you ‘can’t serve God and the military.’ As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I know that the best – and I mean the very best – of America is in uniform around the world, protecting every one of us with honor and dignity. Thousands of Georgians proudly serve in our Armed Forces, and anyone who represents them in the United States Senate should treat them with dignity and honor. Warnock’s conduct deserves condemnation, and his running mate Jon Ossoff’s silence on this speaks volumes to his own character. I hope Ossoff will join me in urging his teammate, Warnock, to immediately apologize to those who serve our country and their families.”

Is there another part of the sentence /context that’s not quoted?
Fwiw, I think that’s the 1st question everyone should have whenever a quote is communicated.
“America, nobody can serve God and the military; you cannot serve God and money; you cannot serve God and mammon at the same time. America, choose you this day, whom ye will serve.”
This is pretty standard “you can’t serve two masters” stuff.
“ …Warnock, in a sermon he gave in April 2011 titled “When Truth Meets Power,” called on churchgoers, and America as a whole, to turn away from the pursuit of power and wealth in favor of a life of service.
“America, nobody can serve God and the military,” Warnock said at the time. “You can’t serve God and money. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth) at the same time. America, choose ye this day who you will serve. Choose ye this day.”
“Politicians try to keep their power. Political parties lie in order to keep their power. And church folk, yeah, you too, maneuver … in order to keep your power and Jesus says, that’s not power. That’s paranoia.”
“Because when you’ve got real power, you’re not worrying about your place in the world. You know how to be exalted and you know how to be abased. You know how to sit high and you know how to sit low and you’re not worried about your place in the world because you’re connected with something that’s greater than you and you’re concerned about something that’s greater than yourself.”
“When you have real power, Jesus says that you’ll lay it down so that somebody else can have some power. Real power will lay itself down on behalf of the powerless,” Warnock added.”

“Perdue was raised in Warner Robins, Georgia, and graduated from Northside High School in 1968.[9][10] He left Warner Robins to start school at the United States Air Force Academy on June 23, 1968, after receiving an appointment from Congressman Jack Brinkley of Georgia.[11]
Perdue did not finish at the Air Force Academy, but went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering (1972) and a master’s degree in operations research (1975) from Georgia Tech.[12][13]”

Perdue couldn’t even finish a free education at a military academy and he is saying ,”
“Thousands of Georgians proudly serve in our Armed Forces, and anyone who represents them in the United States Senate should treat them with dignity and honor. ”
Meanwhile Warnock :
Warnock came to prominence in Georgia politics as a leader in the campaign to expand Medicaid in the state.[14] In March 2014, Warnock led a sit-in at the Georgia State Capitol to press state legislators to accept the expansion of Medicaid offered by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.[15] He and other leaders were arrested during the protest.[”
is putting his principles into practice.
Big difference between a guy who bails out and a guy who stands on his principles.
