Morning Reads for Tuesday, February 9
Good morning! Today is Day 14 of the 2021 Legislative Session.
- Details on how 80,000 middle Georgian homes will – finally – have access to broadband internet.
- The Brunswick News has an excellent series on what climate change means for Georgia’s coast.
- iKia hopes diminished in West Point.
- More on additional funding in the Georgia budget for HIV resources.
- More details on the GOP bills that aim to make it harder for Georgians to vote (following an election where it was easier than ever before to vote – and to do so safely, securely, and without any fraud).
- What is next for 26,000-acre Ossabaw Island, which Sandy West, who recently passed away, sold to the state of Georgia in 1978?
- A $17 million gift from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation kicked off a $50 million campaign to support the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta.
- Delta will continue to block middle seats through at at least April 30, 2021.
- In California (and elsewhere!), anti-vaccine activists became anti-lockdown activists. Now they’ve returned their focus to vaccines.
- Who is making all those scam calls (that make our phones almost useless as actual phones)?

Re Making it Harder-Harder to Vote
It will be the hill the old white men finally die on.
Y’all told us what we can and cannot do with our money. Our body. Our vote.
You rattled your gd ice for a refill one too many times.
I turn 43 next week and have done my part to work softly and quietly to influence an entire generation to come to our aide.
Get Out.
18% of those who had heard of QAnon said they believed the group’s claims were at least somewhat accurate, down 6 points since October.
24% of Republicans who had heard of QAnon said they believe QAnon’s claims, a 14-point decrease from the 38% who said the same in October.
So one quarter of Republicans still believe in Q Anon.
