Doug Collins Opts Not To Run In 2022
There was strong speculation that Doug Collins would run for either the U.S. Senate or Governor in 2022. He announced on Facebook a few minutes ago that he will not run for office in 2022.
With Florida resident and former US President Donald Trump sticking his fingers in the Georgia Republican pie, speculation could be that the field is clearing for candidates who have been blessed by the Dear Leader.

Who’s he blessed besides Herschel Walker?
Any idea of Collins’ future plans? Fox News, Heritage Foundation, or something else?
Srsly torn on whether Don Jr. is going to move here just to run.
… I would very much look fwd to his loss…
Man, Doug Collins sure wimped out didn’t he? Remember when he was all brimstone and fire about Trump?
You think he will run for Georgia Republican leader? David Schafer lost a presidential and two Senate seats in Georgia. As much as Schafer cuddles up to Trump, he doesn’t stand a chance if Collins decides to run for chairman.
What the heck happened to Morning Reads? 3 days a week now? I think you need to recruit more Democrats as columnists. You are running out of Republicans.
So now he’s free to land a Faux News gig where he can lie with impunity.
He’s every bit as disgusting a human as the rest of the Trump clan.
Maybe more so as he claims to be a man of God.
I struggle when it comes to the idea of giving credit where appropriate to those who otherwise may deserve the opposite of credit….
I believe I’ve arrived that credit must be given, even if it is perhaps. 0002% of the person. If you can debit, you can credit. Tough, tho, in the environment where even giving an ounce of credit to Trump/ism/ists could get used, abused, twisted, manipulated, lied about, exaggerated….
(See, perhaps, Van Jones’ support of prison reform..?)
But I will give Doug C. a modicum of credit for his argumentative/debating performance during the impeachment- I think the first one. He was able to argue, albeit oft unstatesmanlike, and hold the ground of the narrative, despite all of its faults, dangers, and voidness of value.
So, credit with context, I suppose.
All that was to suggest I think he may become a fulltime lawyer again, where he can argue, need not be entirely statesmanlike, and use maybe his better skill sets.
And he’ll probably land some time with news media- gotta keep the profile up if , especially if you wanna be the lawyer representing Trump/ism/ists.
I also wanted to add that during that impeachment, while Collins showed some argumentative skill, I found his arguments very vulnerable- except that the folks he was arguing with didn’t see every angle of the weaknesses. I feel like the entirety of the arguments surrounding the Big Lie was a Death Star, and there was always a line to implode the narrative of the moment. But it’s like trying to hit a two-meter womp rat at range.
