Morning Reads for Friday, May 14, 2021
Thank you to the many who sent prayers and happy thoughts my way during my extended absence. The Friday weirdness is returning on a regular basis. And it may get even weirder.
- This new place looks like a load of fun!
- CDC changes its mind again. Check back often, to see which direction they pivot to next.
- Major problem found with a Memphis bridge. That crack looks more like a clean break that’s been widening for a while.
- You keep using that word Infrastructure. It doesn’t mean what you think it means.

Weird is good. Welcome back!
Glad to see you’ve recovered.
I’m pretty sure being weird is a requirement for commenting here….
Nice to have you back
This is an article from 3/31 from the Washington Post (I found a non pay wall link) talking about including cybersecurity upgrades in the infrastructure package. it references mainly to the electrical grid and other Department of Energy related items.

The NY Post article fails to point out that even if the Keystone XL was online, it would not have helped getting gas to cities like Atlanta or into the Colonial line (which they voluntarily shutting down for safety reasons).
Also the NY Post stated “the nation that just a year or so ago became a net oil exporter found itself facing fuel shortages” The US has been a net exporter since 2014-2015. And we did not have a fuel shortage, we had logistics break down by a privately owned company that is not required by any form of federal regulations to maintain a set minium standard of security software for a company dealing with a strategic resource (cus free market something something something…. ). Hopefully that will change.

@ggreenwald posted a screen shot of “Top 10 recipients of political donations from pro-Israel groups in 2020.” Four of the top ten were the candidates in the GA. Senate run-offs. This information came to us from Center for Responsive Politics.
Welcome back Ginny!
