Morning Reads for Tuesday, June 28
Good morning!
- In 2017, the Secretary of State’s office purged more than 534,000 voter registrations. About 8% of those folks re-registered and voted in the 2020 Presidential election.
- Most parents of children with an IEP qualify for a $500 payment through the CARES Act – and most Georgia families that qualify have not taken advantage of the benefit.
- A large number of hospital workers – by “large,” I mean that the number is estimated between 25% and 33% – refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
- The Mayor of Macon and several Macon-Bibb Commissioners learned firsthand how their community’s sanitation program works.
- Street racing is by no means limited to the City of Atlanta. Here are some stats on citations and arrests made statewide this past weekend.
- Why was Toyota trending yesterday? Because they gave a lot of money to Members of Congress who objected to the certification of the 2020 election.
- Chef Matthew Raiford returned to the Georgia coast to farm and cook on land that his family has owned since Emancipation, where he works to preserve Georgia’s Gullah Geechee heritage.

I am a retired RN. When I worked at various hospitals (Grady, Medical College of Georgia) we were required to have the flu vaccine each fall or a statement from a MD excusing us due to allergic concerns or other medical conditions in which a vaccine may cause harm. No one complained to me about it and everyone got the flu vaccine (which changes each year depending on the likely strain to prevail in the fall and winter.
I have to think the nurses’ refusal to have the Covid vaccine is more political rather than medical. Nurses give vaccines to patients .
These nurses need to turn in their nursing license and find another field of work. They are endangering other staff and patients.
