Gary Black Welcomes Herschel Back to Georgia and the US Senate Race
Gary Black, current Georgia Agricultural Commissioner and US Senate candidate, has issued a video “welcoming” Herschel Walker back to Georgia and to the US Senate Race. He has issued a challenge for Herschel to discuss the issues impacting this race, starting this Saturday in Perry, Georgia for the GAGOP 8th District Fish Fry.

Ol’ Gary will be grinding his teeth while he sleeps tonight. Name recognition versus endorsements.
It should be an interesting campaign.
Lawton, are you going to vote for Warnock? You might as well. Send a message to these Trumpians.
You really want Donald Trump in charge of Georgia?
You may be the only one that cares, well other than maybe the candidates themselves, but I was going to back Rep. Buddy Carter, with Gary Black as my number 2. I am old school and think the U.S. Senate needs experienced legislative or executive people.
If you are still reading and want to know why Carter and then Black, it is because I have seen them both work firsthand. I still remember the day that Sen. Jack Hill and I were talking on the floor of the Senate. He said he wanted to introduce me to the hardest working State Senator in Georgia. He took me to Buddy Carter. Buddy had newspapers from all over the state of Georgia and was reading them during a break at his Senate seat. Sen. Hill said that happened all the time and that he devoured the bills, asked questions from the attorneys, etc. Buddy was instrumental in the development of Pooler. The man is brilliant.
Gary Black is as humble of an elected official I have ever met. He has integrity like very few others in elected office. I have no doubt he would serve Georgia well.
I do not like this race to be more like Trump. I do not see it serving Georgia well.
OK. Well, I think Warnock is doing a good job. It will be good to avoid Trumpers from gaining control of the state.
Do you consider Gary Black a Trumper?
I’d say Black is a low-energy Trumpist while Buddy Carter has been pushing for a front-row seat.
Black would buy the T-shirt, Carter is more likely to get a tattoo.
Do you disagree?
Certainly, hard work and analytic thinking are good traits for a policymaker.
Odd that it seems so rare….
But one can have the best map-reading skills, but still decide to travel in a backwards direction….or work hard on policies that use errant approaches or seek errant outcomes…
Thus, I encourage, and value way more highly, perspectives that are based upon the substance of policy rather than the process of work….
not that process isn’t important- but it’s certainly subsidiary to substance.
not to sound overly shallow and simplistic, but is “old white guy” really the way to regain the seat from warnock? i’m not sure walker is the answer either but man does the georgia gop really lack diversity that much? i mean i guess i kinda know the answer…
Well, when you have to go to Texas to find a candidate…
But let’s pls- from hereon out- stop all the whining abt “identity politics” — which few actually understand, but so many complain abt….
I will repeat: we can be race-conscious without being rac-ist.
Saying you want an elected representative who has a higher likelihood of understanding your lived experience based upon common demographic characteristics… that’s simply legit.
Demographics will of course not perfectly align with all policies for all ppls, but it’s about likelihoods.
All that said, would Republicans’ play at diversity pay off in the general any way? Can Herschel peel back any Dems? I am skeptical…
On the other hand, Gary Black has proven he can peel away Dems in the general…
