Following the 2016 elections, I found cold comfort in the knowledge that at least Trump lost Cobb County. I wrote at the time: TL;DR: Clinton won Cobb, it’s a big deal, the Cobb County Republican Party is remiss if they don’t have a serious come-to-Jesus conversation when the national celebrations subside, and the Cobb Democrats are remiss if they
Even with four positions without an anticipated nominee, it’s safe to say the Democratic ticket will be more representative of Georgia than the Republicans. By quite a margin. I’m not making a judgement in any way about this, just providing the information. Every Republican nominee will be white and nine will be men. Democrats will
For a lot of campaigns, the end will come tomorrow. For tonight, there is sign duty. And then waiting. The polls close in 24 hours. The following is a re-post of my column from July 31st, 2012. I thought some of you may need something about nothing to read while you wait. I’ll note that
Hillary Clinton endorsed Stacey Abrams. What was particularly noteworthy about the endorsement, made via robo-call today, is that Secretary Clinton twice made provided pneumonic differentiation between the two Stacies (“Abrams, with an ‘A'”). With Stacey Evans seemingly plateauing at around 20-25 percent and Abrams having either 58% of Democratic voters or only just 43%. Now
This week’s Courier Herald column: With Tuesday’s primary set to select partisan nominees or send candidates to two-person runoffs, it’s time to note that the Republican nomination for Governor is ending for some where it began. There remain emphatic pledges to eliminate Georgia’s income tax. It’s easy to understand why these pledges are made. Voters
I’ll admit that we haven’t given the down ballot races the attention they deserve on these pages. I don’t like to write about campaigns anymore, and a lot of the folks we have left are actively working on other campaigns or otherwise have conflicts that keep them from being honest brokers. The loss of Jon
State Representative Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta) will move on to her general election a couple of days early. Her primary opponent, Kevin James, was disqualified yesterday for failing to pay back state and federal income taxes, per the Marietta Daily Journal. According to tax liens filed by the state in 2012 and 2016, James owed $2,463.77
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR EARLY VOTING. THE ELECTION IS TUESDAY MAY 22ND. Primary season is almost over in Georgia. The distinctions between the Republican and Democrat focuses is plainly obvious from the television ads. Republicans are fighting to prove who is the most Trump like. They have chosen undocumented individuals as the focus to
A hit piece slamming Republican candidate Hunter Hill is hitting mailboxes around the state and while it doesn’t say who paid for the piece, the return address on the mailer opens the door for questions but gives few answers as to who is behind the attack. The mailer, which calls Hunter Hill a ‘convenient conservative’
